What is Kinesiology?

The International Association of Specialized Kinesiology defines Kinesiology in the following way;

“Specialized Kinesiology is the art of assessing the energetic systems of a person by using precision muscle testing as a biofeedback mechanism. Using the same feedback and Specialized Kinesiology methods, a Specialized Kinesiologist identifies appropriate protocols for promoting, restoring and maintaining balance within these energetic systems. The Practitioner uses an educational model to improve his/her clients’ awareness and willingness to foster their own wellbeing.”

The human body is able to heal and regulate itself and is designed to be in balance on all levels. Although the body can heal itself, often it is not able to access its ability for self-healing. The key objective of Specialised Kinesiology is to assist the body to find the balance it needs to access the capacity to heal itself.

Kinesiology is a non-invasive healing modality that uses the gentle testing and monitoring of muscles to detect energy disturbances in the body. The body is designed to adapt to stressors to help maintain equilibrium and excellent functioning. Sometimes we may find ourselves in a state of distress or disease on an emotional, physical or mental level. These symptoms are a way for our body to communicate the fact that there are issues in the way of optimal living. A  kinesiologist’s role is to establish how best to re-establish balance to the body to enable it to heal itself. Mental, physical and emotional issues can be addressed with kinesiology.

Kinesiology can help to identify the underlying issues in order for us to determine the root cause rather than treating or subduing symptoms.

A kinesiologist will use a variety of balancing methods and protocols such as a light touch or pressure to specific points or reflexes to bring about balance and stimulate the body’s intrinsic healing process to ensure quicker and more effective healing.

Kinesiology complements professional healthcare and does not intend to diagnose, nor focus on treating symptoms. It is holistic therapy that looks beyond the symptoms that are caused by stress by accessing conscious, subconscious and body memory. Speeding up recovery, improving quality of life and balancing the body is the core aim of kinesiology. The client fully participates by making the relevant changes to regain control of their life through informed choices.
